The Four Seasons of Spirit - From Space to Source
The Four Seasons of Spirit
~ Spheres of Transformation ~
Here's a little summary of my philosophy of life (which is still evolving... so please fill free to share your thoughts)
Space = Source & Source = Space... that's my starting point... & because it's a summary, you'll have to do some contemplation or meditation of your own to figure out what I mean ;-)
I will continue to share my views on Space at the pod...
The chart above seeks to summarise my philosophy of life. I call it the Four Seasons of Spirit. In its optimal presentation, nothing needs to be represented… not even the circle you see above. The four spheres are one and the same. But for this information to be shared at the level at which most of us are operating at, four circles are used represent of the Four Seasons of Spirit. This classification is a construct of our Mind, a method that arises from the dualistic nature of our worldview, an illusion of separation.
All our experiences are constructs of our Mind. They exist only because we experience the Universe via our senses and perceptions.
"Soul consciousness arises when we stand facing in opposite directions at the same time - toward eternity and toward time, toward infinity and toward space, toward unity and toward complexity. We stand in that dualism without being dualistic, for in consciousness we can accommodate the opposites. We do this by identifying with both. This identification results in the experience of being an individual while at the same time being the whole, and finding no contradiction in this experience." ~ Andrew Schneider
We use symbols, language and models to help us make sense of the world. These tools limit us yet gives form and structure to our knowledge. We need them to facilitate and develop our understanding before we can let go of them with wisdom.
"A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find someone who's forgotten words so I can have a word with him?..."
~ Zhuang Zi
Before there can be intelligent objectivity, we must allow our subjective interpretation to be expressed.
The chart that above is nothing more than my subjective interpretation of the world as I experienced it.
For a start, I’ll present these spheres in a general sequence, from A to D. But in its optimal presentation, there is a cyclical flow of energy, among and within the spheres. This is like the simultaneous revolution of Earth around the Sun as well as its own axis.
A complete version of the chart which goes into several other dimensions is available for sale (pdf format). Please drop me an email if you are interested ;-)
"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."
~ T. S. Elliot
"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters."
~ Norman Maclean
"It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinions;
it is easy in solitude to live after your own;
but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place?
Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know."
~ Rene Daumal
"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe ... We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive." ~ Albert Einstein
"Throw away holiness and wisdom,
and people will be a hundred times happier.
Throw away morality and justice,
and people will do the right thing.
Throw away industry and profit,
and there won't be any thieves.
If these three aren't enough,
just stay at the center of the circle
and let all things take their course."
~ Lao Tzu
"'Fishes live in rivers and lakes and are not aware of it. Humans live in the realm of Tao and are oblivious of it.' People live in the Sea of Zen, yet do not know the nature of Zen."
~ Zhuang Zi
"Humans cannot come to Truth through any organization, through any
creed, through any dogma, priest, or ritual, not through any philosophic
knowledge or psychological technique. They have to find it through the
understanding of the contents of their own minds, through observation
and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection."
~ J. Krishnamurti
“If the human mind lacks the mind of Tao, it can defeat the Tao by using consciousness to produce illusion. If you govern it by the mind of Tao, the conscious light is clear and can thereby help the Tao. So the mind of Tao is not to be diminished, and yet the human mind is not to be annihilate - just do not let the human mind misuse consciousnes. When the ancients told people to kill the human mind, what they meant was to kill the false consciousness of the human mind, not to kill the true consciousness of the human mind.” ~ Liu I-Ming
- The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao;
- The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
- The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
- The named is the mother of ten thousand things.
- Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
- Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations.
- These two spring from the same source but differ in name;
- this appears as darkness.
- Darkness within darkness.
- The gate to all mystery.
- ~ (Gia-Fu Feng & Jane English, 1972).

Alex,
I like your diagram, interesting visuals this brought up for me.
Each new morsel deepens the taste…
wa…your diagram gave us new thoughts. :)
we love to know more about the source of the space…
although we could never find a final answer.
but it's so lovely that we can learn alot everyday from the philosophers like you. :)
Hi alex
Interesting and thoughtful…wondering whether I need to put a dot in the first empty space …primary consciousness…without observation..no reality or self or universe AKA movie what the bleep. Then many primary consciousness can be thought of coming from one primordial
undivided all knowing awareness..thru big bang or series of big-bangs. Depends on which perspective you are looking….i guess you are looking from physical (human) and not non-physical. Still a dot would be necessary …where space folded upon itself …dreaming self. This life is a dream within a dream within a dream….it seems.
Hi Alex,
I like it - the diagram, the content, the summary. They resonate nicely with my own sense of possibility and give me a broad framework from which to address Omega Prime.
Namaste,
Christopher
Reminds me of a samurai maxim stating that being and nothingness are essentially made up of the same things, and that all things will eventually return to those initial states. Also, the I Ching belief that all things eventually become their opposite, which is a maxim I hold to be true in most of my philosophical practices. I'll examine this more closely and give a more thorough comment soon.
Like it!
What's the little snowman represent?
The “little snowman” start by representing an individual… & can expand all the way to represent humanity…
A little explaination based on the “little snowman” representing an individual…
A. An individual is born, full of potential. Sees nothing. Full of possibilities at birth. There is no Self.
B. The individual defines Self by looking around at Surounding. Self is Shaped by Opinions & Expectations.
C. The individual looks within & redefines Self, Shaped by Memories & Experiences.
D. The individual comes full circle & once again loses concept of Self. Reunites with Source & reexperiences Oneness.
Hi Alex,
In response to your message.
It seems to me that the only things that calls for comment is the diagram, and it appears that it conveys well what you wanted. As for the points you make in the discourse now and later it is not for me to comment as this is your perception unfolding, your enlightenment unfolding. I will say two things, however:
1. The use of circles evokes memories of some of my representations.
2. I agree with Susmita's description of a 'dot' and the words 'primary consciousness'. These come pretty close to how I “see” it.
I do not know whether you propose letting your project be self-fulfilling or whether you will be seeking elsewhere for other information as you move forward. If it is the latter I suggest you read my book The Milk Is White which details how I “see” what you are striving for. As I declare in the book it is for the reader to accept or reject what I say. To help you I should say that I have come to where I am today on my own though having read copiously and widely over a lifetime; hence, in the book is 63 years of work that must reduce the amount of work someone will have to put in today. You can access the book via www.themilkiswhite.com or via my garden [which is my name for my profile/home page].
I wish you well on your journey, my friend - but be patient, there are no shortcuts!
Much love,
Ian.
NB. More Qs? Sure!
Hi Alex,
Very sinewy & fluid; I like! It reminds me a bit of Wayne Dyer's 4 Stages of Adult Development ~ The Athlete, The Warrior, The Statesperson & The Spirit from his book, Manifest Your Destiny…Only you included an infant's perspective…or before that happens, perhaps. I do find myself giggling some days, especially during or immediately after a yoga practice…I just catch myself thinking—of just that—how we think & think of the all of everything & how one day, maybe, we'll all see something utterly different, perhaps that this something which is existence and living alive is very simple, & then find ourselves laughing & laughing…For all of your discoveries, giggles & guffaws, my dear friend! Light & Peace, Jeannie
